### About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Java Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale our core distributed systems and event-driven architecture. You will work closely with product and infrastructure teams to deliver high-performance microservices deployed on AWS, leveraging modern cloud-native tooling, real-time data streaming via Confluent Cloud, and robust automation testing practices.

### Key Responsibilities

Design & Development: Build scalable, resilient, and secure microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
Event-Driven Architecture: Implement real-time data streaming and asynchronous messaging pipelines using Apache Kafka and Confluent Cloud, alongside traditional message queues.
Infrastructure & Deployment: Manage cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including configuring Kubernetes manifests, environment variables, and ConfigMaps.
Quality & Automation: Drive engineering excellence by writing comprehensive automated test suites using Cucumber (BDD) and JUnit, ensuring high test coverage and reliability.
Collaboration: Participate in code reviews, system design discussions, and CI/CD pipeline optimization in an Agile environment.

### Required Skills & Qualifications

Core Engineering: 3+ years of robust software development experience with strong proficiency in Java 17+ and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
Streaming & Messaging: Deep hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, schema registries, consumer/producer tuning, and managed Kafka platforms like *Confluent Cloud. Familiarity with other message queues (e.g., RabbitMQ, AWS SQS) is a strong plus.
Cloud & DevOps: Proven experience deploying and managing production workloads on AWS (ECS, EKS, RDS, IAM, S3).
Infrastructure as Code: Strong command over Terraform, managing cloud resources, modular configurations, and Kubernetes ConfigMaps / secrets management.
Testing: Demonstrated experience building BDD-based automated test frameworks using Cucumber integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
Mindset: Strong first-principles problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a focus on clean, maintainable code architecture.
