Deep software engineering experience is not required, but candidates should be comfortable working with technology, learning digital insurance platforms, and partnering with technical teams.
This is a remote position. Candidates should be comfortable working Central or Eastern Time business hours.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as an insurance subject matter resource for the Vave platform, with a focus on wholesale and E&S underwriting workflows
- Analyze existing underwriting and operational processes to identify inefficiencies, pain points, and opportunities for improvement
- Partner with underwriting, product, analytics, and development teams to translate business needs into platform enhancements and practical solutions
- Investigate complex platform, workflow, and insurance-related issues and coordinate resolution across internal teams
- Develop a strong understanding of Vave's underwriting products, appetite, workflows, platform capabilities, and partner needs
- Gather and evaluate feedback from wholesalers and other insurance partners to identify product and operational improvement opportunities
- Support the development, testing, and implementation of platform enhancements and new capabilities
- Evaluate how changes to products, underwriting workflows, or technology may impact brokers, underwriters, capacity partners, and other stakeholders
- Support onboarding and adoption of Vave products and technology by providing insurance and workflow expertise
- Analyze platform usage, underwriting activity, and operational trends to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and partner experience
- Communicate complex insurance and technical concepts clearly to both business and technical audiences
- Manage multiple initiatives, partner needs, and priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned
Requirements:
- Experience within wholesale insurance, excess and surplus lines, an MGA, insurance carrier, underwriting organization, or underwriting operations environment required
- Strong understanding of commercial insurance underwriting workflows and the roles of MGAs, wholesalers, brokers, carriers, capacity providers, and insureds required
- Experience analyzing insurance processes, underwriting workflows, operational challenges, or insurance products and recommending improvements
- Ability to understand complex insurance problems and translate business needs into clear requirements, recommendations, or solutions
- Experience in technical underwriting, underwriting operations, insurance product, underwriting analysis, or a related function highly beneficial
- Experience working with wholesale or E&S insurance products highly beneficial
- Ability to work effectively across underwriting, operations, product, analytics, and technology teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues and identify root causes
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain insurance concepts to technical partners and technical concepts to insurance stakeholders
- Experience with insurance portals, underwriting platforms, policy administration systems, or other insurance technology beneficial
- Experience supporting technology implementations, product enhancements, workflow improvements, or user acceptance testing beneficial
- Familiarity with APIs, SQL, data analysis, or other technical concepts beneficial but not required
