Data Architect | BigQuery / GCP | Remote | EU

Rate: $50–55/hour
Location: EU only
Fully remote
Long-term international enterprise project

We are looking for an experienced Data Architect to lead the design and governance of a global financial data platform built around a Single Source of Truth (SSOT) architecture on BigQuery.

Main Responsibilities:
• Define and enforce Bronze / Silver / Gold architecture principles
• Lead global data model harmonization (conformed dimensions, unified facts, SCD2)
• Drive migration from Teradata to BigQuery with validation and cutover strategy
• Design scalable end-to-end data pipelines using Airflow
• Establish data governance framework (metadata, lineage, RBAC, auditability)
• Implement data quality & observability processes
• Define CI/CD workflows and schema evolution strategies
• Optimize BigQuery performance and cloud cost efficiency
• Align architecture with finance, tax, and compliance requirements

Requirements:
• Strong experience as Data Architect / Lead Data Engineer
• Deep expertise in BigQuery and cloud-native data platforms
• Experience designing enterprise-scale DWH / Lakehouse solutions
• Strong SQL and dimensional modeling skills
• Experience with Airflow orchestration
• Hands-on experience with governance, lineage, metadata, and RBAC
• Experience with migration projects from legacy DWH systems
• Strong understanding of finance/reporting data domains
